

initial consultation: Research has consistently found that a good therapeutic relationship is the most important ingredient in a successful therapy. To that end, I encourage that we meet for an initial consultation (which typically lasts between 1-3 sessions) to determine whether working together would be a good fit. During the consultation phase, I will inquire about your present situation, life history, and goals for treatment. At the same time, I encourage you to attend to your comfort in working with me. At the end of the consultation, I will offer some of my initial thoughts about whether and how I could be helpful to you. If we both determine the "fit" feels like a good one, we will schedule follow-up appointments. Alternatively, if, for whatever reason, we determine I am not the right fit, I will be happy to provide other referrals.
